When Dancing with Karen first introduced Zumba into the studio, we decided to offer something to a sometimes neglected part of the community. We wanted to give an opportunity for fun exercise and fitness to those who were out of shape, those who had never exercised before, and those that may not be able to handle the rigors of a traditional, high-energy aerobic exercise session. So we started with Zumba Gold.

What is Zumba Gold?

The Zumba ® Gold Fitness program is an innovative, fun and  exciting program designed for the active older adult, the true  beginner, people who are not accustomed to exercising, or people who  may be limited physically.

 Dancing with Karen offers many levels of Zumba Gold to help you get started and keep you going. Check out the calendar below to see the classes.

Zoom, Zoom Zumba!

As some students become more fit, they want to increase the intensity of their Zumba session. Even though modifications to increase intensity are explained in the Zumba Gold classes, these students want even more. To answer that need, DwK is proud to offer a Zumba high-energy class.

The same great Latin styles of music and dance are used in all of the Zumba classes. However, the high(er) intensity classes may increase effort by moving faster, encouraging greater range of motion, suggesting a higher-impact version of a step, and other techniques.

How is Zumba Gold Different from Zumba Basic?

The same great Latin styles of music and dance are used in all of the Zumba classes!
The main difference between Zumba Gold and Zumba Basic is Zumba Gold is done at a lower intensity, not as fast, but certainly as much fun.
